Dr. Anurag Singh
Director, NCCR

Dr Anurag Singh is an Assistant Professor in the UBC Faculty of Medicine and a consulting nephrologist for the University Hospital of Northern BC based in Prince George and serving the Northern Health region in BC for over 10 years. He is the Medical Directory of Kidney Services at NH and was recently appointed as the inaugural Director of the Northern Center for Clinical Research.

Anurag's research interests align with understanding the health needs and advocating for health equity for citizens living in geographically isolated communities. His research focuses on implementing digital solutions and evaluating clinical outcomes for equity-deserving populations. He is committed to finding solutions to address gaps in the representation of rural, remote and Indigenous populations in clinical trials research.

Tatiana Barcelos Pontes
Regional Manager

Tatiana Barcelos Pontes is the Regional Manager, Northern Center for Clinical Research (NCCR). In this role Tatiana will be supporting the growth, development and implementation of processes to support health research and clinical trials within the Health Authority.

Originally from Brazil, Tatiana earned her PHD in Child and Adolescent Health from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. She has spent the past years as Program Director for the Department of Occupational Therapy at Boston University where she worked on developing processes to increase program growth and developed new curricular offerings meeting accreditation and quality standards. She also has experience with coordinating and leading large collaborative research studies and mentoring masters’ and PhD students.

In her free time, Tatiana loves spending time with her husband and two children, baking and playing board games.

Celia
Clinical Research Coordinator

Celia is a clinical research nurse coordinator with a BSN RN and is currently studying to reinstate her SOCRA CCRP. She has over three years of experience in coordinating clinical research activities, mainly in respiratory infectious disease surveillance and phase III/IV vaccine trials, and she was previously a research assistant. She is thrilled to join NCCR to build a new and exciting clinical research program in northern BC, where she is from. She collaborates with the study PI and other researchers, clinicians, and others to ensure that clinical research is organized, planned, and carried out efficiently and according to regulatory standards. She is passionate about bringing clinical research together with the people of the north. When she is not working, she enjoys riding her bike, Orange Crush, to and from work in all weather (even snow) and walking the many nearby nature trails with her dogs.

Anam
Research Associate

I am a certified international Pharmacist & Researcher who earned my graduate degree in pharmacy from Riphah International University Pakistan. I have also earned MSc Health Sciences Degree from UNBC, Canada in 2023. Currently, I am employed as a clinical research associate with Northern Health NCCR. I've been active in clinical research for the past five years, and I have publications in prestigious journals as the lead author. My specific research interests include cardiovascular, infectious disease, antimicrobial stewardship, clinical trials, and drug policy initiatives.

Julia C
Research Associate

I hold a Ph.D. in Developmental and School Psychology from the University of Brasilia, a Master’s in Social Sciences and Education from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO Argentina) and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. My research passion lies in Cultural and Developmental Psychology, Feminisms, especially motherhood and matricentric feminism, Disability Studies, illness experiences and the ethics of care. Researching is where my creativity, curiosity, and hopes for a better world come to life. Beyond the academic world, I enjoy cooking for family and friends, skating, and indulging in movies with my kids, Luiz and Ana, and my husband. Being from a colonized country myself, I am mindful of the complexities of living and working on the unceded traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. I aspire to be an ally in the ongoing struggle, empathizing with the challenges Indigenous communities face.
